Vitoria Novaes works as a Product Manager at Rivio, where she turns complex operational challenges in the healthcare sector into technology solutions. Born in Rio de Janeiro but raised between Rondônia and Pará, she brings a practical, resilient outlook that shows in both her professional and personal life.

Over the course of her professional development, Vitoria has worked on different technical fronts, as a software engineer at QI Tech and a hardware engineer at Tractian. She has developed hardware and software projects for companies such as IBM, BCG and Volkswagen, as well as for hospitals such as Sírio‑Libanês.

Fascinated by innovation initiatives, she took part in PoliMilhagem (the University of São Paulo’s electric car team) and in Inteli’s Entrepreneurship League and Cybersecurity League. She was also involved in a project in partnership with the Institute for Technological Research (IPT) on facade inspection with drones, focused on classifying structural cracks as thermal or shrinkage cracks.

Before joining Rivio’s Product team, she worked in Operations and Product at Omni Saúde, an experience that broadened her view of the revenue cycle and the sector’s operational challenges.

Outside work, among many activities, she keeps two special ones.

She is part of the volunteer Governance team for Formula 1 in Brazil, where she helps coordinate communication between race control, stewards and teams, organizes official documentation, records decisions and supports operations during practice, qualifying and the race.

Her connection with competitive environments does not stop there. Vitoria sails in the ILCA 4.7 and Snipe classes, a sport that shapes how she approaches challenges: constant adaptation, reading the situation, risk control and execution under pressure.

How does sailing, one of your passions, contribute to the engineering professional you are?

Vitoria Novaes – Sailing is liberating and has parallels with everyday life. One moment you are steady in the boat, and the next the wind shifts, creating pressure and challenges. Sailing helps you learn how to adjust to uncomfortable situations. Are you going to have to deal with adverse wind? Then trim the sail. Personal life is the same: you need to stay calm in the most unstable and challenging moments and take risks. A sailboat cannot sail heeled over, which forces me to keep my balance, physical and mental. With every training session, I feel I have improved at something, such as capsizing less often, losing my fear of hiking out with my whole body and gaining more confidence, for example.

Why did you choose to join Rivio?

Vitoria Novaes –I chose Rivio mainly because of its purpose and its high-speed environment. The problem the company sets out to solve, the inefficiency of the revenue cycle in healthcare, is complex, structural and has a direct impact on hospitals’ sustainability and on patient care. I like these challenges.

In addition, Rivio operates at an intense pace, with challenges and decisions that quickly translate into product, which is my specialty. This fast-paced environment, combined with an extremely strong technical and product team, was decisive in my decision.

What did you know about Rivio before you joined?

Vitoria Novaes –I had visited the website, but at the time there was still little public information about the company. Over the course of the process, and with access to more context, I came to understand that my work would have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of patients and hospitals. That was decisive; I wanted to actively contribute to the team that is transforming healthcare in Brazil.

How did you find the culture at Rivio?

Vitoria Novaes –Rivio’s culture is very focused on impact, ownership and collaboration across areas. Product, technology and operations work in an integrated way, with direct conversations, quick decisions and a clear focus on solving customers’ real pain points.

There is great value placed on autonomy, but also on accountability: each person understands the context of the problem they are solving and feels ownership of the solution, from start to finish.

Have you had any memorable, defining moments at Rivio?

Vitoria Novaes –What I find most striking at Rivio is being able to closely follow the transformation of complex operational problems into concrete product solutions. Seeing different teams align with speed, clarity and a sense of urgency to unlock deliveries that truly make a difference for hospitals and, above all, for patients is something rare and powerful.

In practice, it means seeing a customer’s real pain point come out of a conversation, become a decision, a priority and a specification, and quickly take shape as product.

Any specific moment?

Vitoria Novaes –I clearly remember my first meeting at Rivio. We were discussing decisions that would directly affect our customers and the company’s own operations. That is when it became clear that any decision I made would carry the same level of responsibility and consequence. That understanding shaped, from the very start, the way I work: with a sense of ownership, rigor and commitment to results.

Would these elements – sense of ownership, rigor and commitment – make for a good fit with the Rivio team?

Vitoria Novaes –Yes, among others! A good fit for the Rivio team goes far beyond technical skills. It involves, first and foremost, a clear attitude toward real problems.

I consider ownership and autonomy fundamental. People who take end-to-end responsibility, who feel ownership of problems and do not limit themselves to carrying out tasks but solve them.

I also value the ability to work in loosely defined scenarios, structure complex problems and work together with different areas. That is what enables speed without losing quality.

Add to that genuine curiosity, the humility to recognize when you are wrong and, above all, the creativity to solve problems that do not come with ready‑made answers.
