TUSS table update: find out what changed

Understand the main changes to the Unified Terminology for Supplementary Health, including new codes and revisions to materials and medications, ensuring hospital billing compliance and avoiding operational denials

The ANS (Brazil’s National Supplementary Health Agency) released the latest update to the TUSS table (Unified Terminology for Supplementary Health), in the January 2025 version. The new version brings important changes to several tables, such as additions, deactivations and adjustments to procedures, materials and medications, as well as changes to the SIP-TUSS Compatibility Table.

Staying up to date is essential to ensure correct billing of healthcare services, avoid denials and ensure compliance with ANS rules. Here is a summary of the changes. At the end, we provide the link to download the complete, updated tables.

Summary of changes

Table 19 (Materials and OPME)

40,335 terms were added for materials and orthotics, prosthetics and special materials (OPME).

Table 20 (Medications)

570 new medication terms were added.

Table 22 – main changes

3 codes added

  • 40311511 – Lateral flow test for detection of lipoarabinomannan in urine (LF – LAM).

  • 40314677 – Line probe assay (first-line LPA) for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC).

  • 40314685 – Line probe assay (second-line LPA) for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC).

These additions are in line with the incorporations established in ANS Normative Resolution No. 619 (effective January 2, 2025).

2 codes removed

  • 40309223 – CSF encephalitis, panel.

  • 40323560 – Meningoencephalitis panel (CSF).

Changes to the descriptive text of 3 codes

  • 40314430 – HLA B27, phenotyping/genotyping (genotyping added).

  • 41001141 – CT – joint (sternoclavicular or shoulder or elbow or wrist or sacroiliac or hip or knee or ankle or foot) – unilateral (foot added).

  • 40202801 – Endoscopic placement of a short-term (6 months) intragastric balloon (spelling correction of the term “intragástrico”).
